Orange coast magazine
editorial/art direction/icon design/typesetting
Challenge
Established in 1974, Orange Coast Magazine is an award-winning publication, reaching over 200,000 monthly readers. The challenge of a lean editorial team is to continuously jump into the next deadline with aplomb and provide solutions that captivate the audience in every monthly issue.
Solution
I approached this assignment with full cultural immersion into the magazine world. By being onsite and getting a true behind the scenes experience of this renowned Orange County magazine, I quickly understood the full process of the publication, collaborated on photoshoots, wrote creative briefs, art directed freelance illustrators, and of course had a hand in design and typesetting of page layouts. Perks of the job include eating what we photograph. Best job ever.
